Online Browser Games: What to Check After a Network Change

Switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data can interrupt an ongoing online session even when new web pages still load. Restored internet access does not necessarily restore the game's match connection.

Separate connectivity from match recovery

A game may use a persistent connection such as WebSocket, whose interface reports connection and close events. The game decides whether it can reconnect and restore your place. Local animations continuing to move do not prove that opponents or the server are still receiving your actions. Check the game's connection indicator and recent updates before repeating a move.

Try the steps

  1. Wait for the game's reconnect indicator or documented recovery action.
  2. Check that ordinary web access works without repeatedly refreshing the match.
  3. If recovery fails, record the message and use the game's supported rejoin flow.

Will refreshing guarantee that I return to the same match?

No. A refresh can discard an in-memory session, and some games do not support rejoining. Read the prompt first. This guide applies only to versions offering online play; local multiplayer does not imply a remote match.
